All the banana fields kept the fruit protected

The most obvious feature of the banana plantations are the blue bags that surround every bunch of bananas. Every plantation used the same blue bags, and every bunch was covered. Our guide explained that the bags were required to meet the high level of banana perfection required by European Union rules (these bananas were being grown for the Eurpoean market).
