    Aims approaches control number 1
  (Sep 12, 2004, 10:59am)

Here is Aims at the tail end of his course. He has launch his canoe into the water from the end of the bay (which implies that he was just running across land with his canoe). Aims has now almost reach control number 1, the last control he has left to punch in his solo effort.

Look closely at the picture (full size original) and you can see that Aims is not paddling but is actually in the process of climbing out of his canoe.
Aims gets out of his boat to punch control 1

Most people waste lots of time maneuvering their boats so they can reach and punch the control without getting wet. Aims realized that the fastest way to punch the control was just to jump out of the boat.
