The water temperature is around 73 degrees (23 C) so almost everyone used a wet suit while snorkeling. Here Joel and Karen are suited up before our snorkeling trip at San Cristóbal Island.

Group and waves at Kicker Rock

We went into the water at Kicker Rock near the gap between the two exposed rocks. Although the current was not strong, there were some rather tall waves. This picture was taken by me using my underwater camera after I had gotten into the water. The group is not standing on land, they are in the Panga boat, which is completely hidden behind one of the waves.

Disembarking at Bartolomé Island

Some of our landing are wet landings, where we have to jump off the boat at the beach (our feet get wet). Some of our landings, like this one, are dry landings, where the boat can pull up to concrete steps provided by the park service. Unfortunately (as is the case here) the steps are often infested with sea lions. That is Theresa (with her ipad mini camera) being helped ashore.

The hike on Bartolomé Island consisted entirely of walkway and stairs (around 380 of them) put in place by the park service to limit erosion. Right-to-left: Larry, Even, Daphne, Barbara, Pete, Julia, Karen, Theresa, Bill, Bernie, Tracey and Carol.

Larry learns to dive
