  • View of Petit Byahaut when you get off the boat
  (Jul 15, 2004, 06:58am)

We spent the first four nights of our trip at Petit Byahaut on St. Vincent. This is a picture of the path from the Petit Byahaut waterfront to the dining room. This is the first look we had of the resort, when we arrived the night before.

  • Fisherman in the Petit Byahaut bay
  (Jul 15, 2004, 08:09am)

Early in the morning, I was attracted to the bay by the sounds of shouting. When I got to the waterfront, I saw three native fishing boats casting a net into the water. I rushed back to our suite and grabbed the small camera and its underwater case (just in case I dropped it). Then I grabbed a kayak from the beach and paddled out into the bay to get a closer look.

The native fisherman mostly ignore the tourist in the kayak, taking pictures. This and the next few pictures represent the best of my little outing.

  • View from out suite at Petit Byahaut
  (Jul 15, 2004, 10:07am)

Although our suite is not very far from the water, we do not have an ocean view. Instead, when we look out our suite towards the ocean, we get this view of the rain forest.

  • Daphne works on her journal
  (Jul 15, 2004, 10:09am)

Daphne writes the first draft of the trip journal on her Palm PDA with a portable keyboard. Here is a picture of her sitting in the living area of our suite, catching up on the details of our trip so far.

You can see more pictures of our suite later in this gallery. And you have already read the trip journal, right?

  • Peaks of St. Vincent disappearing into the fog
  (Jul 15, 2004, 10:41am)

This is the first photograph from our trip to the Falls of Balein. The following series of Photographs are from our trip up the coast, the stop for lunch and the actual falls themselves.

As you can see it was a cloudy (and rainy) day. But the low clouds over the mountains of St. Vincent make this picture of a costal village even more interesting.

  (Jul 15, 2004, 11:03am)

Part way up the coast is Wallilabou Bay, made famous as the set for the movie Pirates of the Carribbean. This is out first glimse of the Wallilabou Anchorage resturant, in the old movie set. The next block of pictures are all from Wallilabou Bay (where we stopped for lunch).

  • Tour group runs under a tree when rain starts
  (Jul 15, 2004, 11:29am)

It was a rainy day. When we first pulled ashore, the rain had stopped and everyone on the tour had their cameras out taking pictures. When the rain started up again, everyone rush under the nearest tree to shelter their cameras from the rain. I was using the small camera in its underwater case, so I never worried about the rain.
