Petit Byahaut (July 15-17)

Our boat ride up the coast in the rain (Jul 15, 2004, 02:09pm) During the boat trip to the Falls of Balein, it started to rain again. The tour guide pulled out a stack of rain coast for his guests, and everyone bundled up, as you can see here. The other people on the tour were from Young Island and were near the end of their vacation. I think they were somewhat upset at the rain. On the other hand, I had my camera in its underwater case and just took the rain in stride.

Dock at entrance to Falls of Balein (Jul 15, 2004, 02:10pm) This is the entrance to the Falls of Balein. There is a dock on the left with stairs leading in land. The boat dropped us off at the dock, and we started the short hike to the falls. The white splotches at the top of the picture are rain drops on the lens of the camera case. You can see those splotches on the next few pictures, left over from when it was raining.

Go ahead, jump in, the waters warm (Jul 15, 2004, 02:25pm) After a short walk (none of those pictures were worth saving), we reached the Falls of Balein. As you can see, with all the rain the falls are really flowing hard. There is a pool at the bottom of the falls and our guide invited us to go for a swim. As you can see in the next few pictures, a couple of us did jump in.
