Petit St. Vincent (July 23-27)

Some type of hibiscus (Jul 25, 2004, 08:40am) One of Daphne's favorite pictures from this trip, this hibiscus flower was hanging from a tree along the road behind the beach cottages. Taking a picture of it was a challenge without a tripod and with a small breeze blowing that would move the flower around. Make sure you view the original, the smaller sized image shows artificial jpeg artifacts as a result of the Smugmug's resizing operation.

Stairway we climbed to get to the dining room (Jul 25, 2004, 08:41am) Our cottage was on a hill (actually The Bluff) and the dining complex was on a hill (Telescope Hill), but the hills were not the same. When we wanted to go to dinner, we had to first follow the road south, down the hill to the area where the beach cottages were. Then we climbed a stairway to the top of Telescope Hill, from where we could walk to the dining complex. This is the bottom of that stairway, behind Atlantic beach, that leads to the top of Telescope Hill. There is another picture, later in this gallery, of the middle section of this staircase. Remember, we had to climb these stairs for every meal, and we were always hungry (this picture was taken on the way to breakfast).
